What does lascaux21 mean?

The "lascaux" part refers to the famous cave paintings of Lascaux in France. The "21" refers to the 21st century.

These ancient women and men expressed their essential humanity in a form loaded with the energy of their being. Even today, looking at photographs of the paintings, one can feel the depth of their experience, the innocent but brutal awe of awareness of existing.

Across thousands of years, the enthusiasm of being still burns in their work. We don't know the individuals, and the work stands out as a gift uncluttered by ego or ambition.

My goal in creating this work was to give something to the world as a similar gift - obviously a pale shadow by comparison, but offered as a tool for achieving that intensity of being.
